SOLAR PERMIT DESIGN

Before you go solar & proceeding with the PV installation, you must obtain the necessary approval from the Authority Having Jurisdiction AHJ. Before installing solar power, you must obtain an installation permit from your local authority. Solar permits generally require approval on two forms, one from the local building authority and one from the utility company (for grid connection approval).

Interconnection Permit

First you have to apply for an interconnection agreement that entitles you to connect to the power grid. The utility wants to make sure your system is secure and compliant.

Interconnection Agreements generally require the following information:
- The number of solar panels and inverters installed
- Rated capacity of the solar panels & inverter.
-Location of proposed PV array, electrical panel(s), utility meter and other landmarks.

Solar permitting requirements
To install a photovoltaic system, it is necessary to obtain the approvals of the local authorities for the installation permit. In general, you should expect to apply for an electricity permit, a building permit or building permit, and/or a special photovoltaic (PV) permit. In order to obtain these, it is necessary to provide specifications for the proposed solar equipment and system design. The Required solar permits vary by location, type and size of solar installation.

The Permit Process Varies By Location:
Permit requirements vary by city and state depending on local codes, zoning laws, and other solar installation regulations.
For some residential projects, a simple listing of solar panels, inverters, racking, and costs may suffice. In other areas, a more detailed site plan and construction drawings of the PV system may be required.

The Permit Process Varies By Size & types of installation:
Solar permit requirements also depend on the size and type of solar installation. If you are installing a large commercial solar panel system, you will likely need to obtain additional permits beyond those required for a small residential solar panel system.
The process of obtaining permits for utility-scale PV systems is often the longest and most expensive due to additional regulations.

Before you can install a solar power system, you must demonstrate through solar permit planning that the project complies with local, state, and federal building codes. That is why working with an expert team and an experienced PV company is so important. Green World Renewable Energy have the knowledge and experience to guide you through all of your local solar permit and interconnection processes to ensure your solar energy system receives the required solar permit in a timely manner.
